About The Artist
I dabbled in various forms of art throughout my childhood and teenage years, including Paint on the family desktop computer, mosaics with ingredients from our pantry (i.e. dried beans, popcorn kernels, etc.), photography, and coloring with gel pens.
As a newlywed, I realized I needed to make space to find myself and discovered that creativity was key. My journey started with $0.50 acrylic paints from Walmart, then accelerated to sketching, watercolors, a touch of pastels, and finally settled on my current favorite: inks on silk.
I love to travel and am always trying to find ways to incorporate what I see into my art. When I am inspired by what I see, I take my time to photograph every view, analyze how I could capture the essence of what I see into a painting, and have started to bring rocks home from my travels to use in mosaics.
About The Art
My medium of choice is a silk-wrapped canvas, painted in inks, and then fully resined. I also enjoy inks on wooden board, and rock, glass, and paper quilled mosaics.
I am inspired by the breathtaking world around me and want my art to bring a level of the magic from the outside world into your home. An exact replica will never measure up to experiencing the real thing, so I choose a more stylistic and exaggerated approach. I love to use vibrant colors, glimmering details, and a shining finish to add warmth and beauty to each of my pieces.
Behind the Name
Copper gutta brings a shimmering depth to each piece of art, and is complementary to the warm colors I love to showcase.
Southern Utah and Arizona are home to a wide variety of intense and rich colors. Vermillion, scarlet, cinnabar, and crimson are some of the ones which entrance me the most, but the brilliant blue sky, sparkling silver water, and golden and green plant life are all stunningly complimentary to the warmer rich tones.
